Nicks that Click – Karaka 2021 – Getting Savvy with Savabeel

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Monday December 14

Waikato Stud’s champion sire Savabeel added a 106th stakes-winner to his tally last Saturday when Whimsical won the Group III Eulogy Stakes at her third start and his stock are sure to be plentiful and popular at Karaka 2021, so it’s worth a look at what has emerged as the best nick for the powerhouse son of Zabeel.

Promising filly Whimsical is actually from Chanel’s Choice, who is a daughter of Redoute’s Choice, but her next dam is by O’Reilly and that’s a name that sends up a rocket when we see it in a pedigree with Savabeel.

The Savabeel cross over O’Reilly mares has produced 101 winners from 136 starters, that’s over 74% winners to runners and the 18 stakes-winners bred this way include Group I winners are Costume, Diademe, Savaria and Embellish as well as rising star Mo’Unga, a talented three year-old in the Chris Waller stable.

The stakes-winner to runner rate of 13% is above Savabeel’s overall stakes-winner to runner rate of 10.7%.

There are also an additional six stakes-winners like Whimsical that feature O’Reilly further back in their female pedigree and they include his Group I winners Probabeel and Savvy Coup.

Savabeel stock will be in hot demand at Karaka 2021.
