Pep Torque Hits Top Gear

Media Release - Thursday December 10

Kirsty Lawrence’s $2,600 gavelhouse.com buy Pep Torque took his earnings to just shy of $120,000 with a determined victory over the Hawke’s Bay mile yesterday.

Pep Torque and winning connections.

Looking set to be a force to be reckoned with again this summer holiday racing season, a time that the seven-year-old son of Nadeem has excelled in the past two seasons, Lawrence was thrilled with his return to the winner’s enclosure “I couldn’t be prouder of the effort by Pep Torque to bring up win number six of his career after a frustrating run of bad luck.

“He has suffered from tough draws in his last four starts and the drop back in grade and the apprentice claim of Sam O’Malley was used to good effect.

“He is such a fun horse to work and have around the stables and I am lucky that my stable foreman Susan Best who has a small share in him rides him in all his work and loves his cheeky character.

“His ownership is shared with Gisborne sisters Christina and Dinah Newman also, who have had a real thrill out of ‘Ozzie’ who was purchased off gavelhouse.com by my husband Steve and I.

“Steve and our daughter Jess were heading off on holiday to Australia – I couldn’t go as I was too busy at work – so he was called Ozzie as I got a horse instead of a holiday!”

Last month the stable celebrated another winning gavelhouse.com graduate in Real Slim Tradie and has recently added two new charges to her team via the site in Runthiefrun and a Preferment colt

Fellow gavelhouse.com buy No Rock No Pop, a $900 buy in September last year, also won at the meeting while entries for the last auction of the year are due online by 7pm on Monday.
