Frankel's Converge Makes a Winning Debut

Mark Smith - Wednesday December 9

A two-year-old son of Frankel leading at every call in a pre-Christmas maiden over 1200m at Warwick Farm, provides plenty of promise for the future and there was a lot to like about the career debut of Converge on Wednesday.

Ridden by Tim Clark for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Converge looked likely to get run over halfway down the straight. In true Tulloch Lodge fashion, the gelded son of Frankel continued to find under pressure to defeat the Sooboog filly Jessica Rabbit by a neck and deny that stallion his first winner.

Coastwatch (Fastnet Rock) was a long-neck back in third.

”That was great for Evergreen, being a Frankel homebred,” stable representative Neil Paine said.

“He gave every indication to Gai and Adrian that he was ready to go.

“Gai and Adrian are up in the Hunter Valley looking at yearlings, but they will be thrilled.”

Converge is the first foal of the Shamardal (USA) mare Conversely (IRE) who failed to win in five starts in Ireland.

A daughter of US Grade III winner and dual Grade 1 placed Melhor Ainda (USA) (Pulpit), Converesly has a yearling colt by Churchill (IRE), who was purchased for $28,000 at the 2020 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale, and a colt foal by Invader.

The victory of Converge will be cheered on by the vendors of five Frankel yearling heading to the Gold Coast in January.

Frankel has five yearlings entered for Magic Millions.

No more so that Yulong Investments who will consign the lone Frankel filly who, like Converge is out of a Shamardal (USA) mare.

This one is out of Newmarket winner Ghadaayer (IRE).
