Shocking's Progeny in Great Form

Media Release - Tuesday December 8

The tremendous run of form shown by the stock of Rich Hill stallion Shocking continued with the Kelvin and Aimee Tyler-trained City Slicker producing a supreme staying effort winning Saturday’s time-honoured Chalmers Handicap (2500m) at Trentham.

City Slicker

The daughter of Shocking was left in front a long way from home, and she stayed on strongly for the fourth win of her career. Tyler will now look towards the autumn with a view to having City Slicker competing in March’s $500,000 Gr.1 Auckland Cup (3200m).

Tyler will now look towards the autumn with a view to having City Slicker competing in March’s $500,000 Gr.1 Auckland Cup (3200m).

And last week alented gelding Camino Rocoso defended his title with an easy victory in the Cromwell Cup (2030m) defeating fellow Shocking gelding Kilowatt.

It was the tenth victory by the John and Karyn Parson trained galloper, who will head to Trentham to defend his crown in the Gr.3 Dixon and Dunlop Trentham Stakes (2100m).

Also at Ellerslie the Emma Lee and David Brown-trained Elephant made it two wins from two starts with an emphatic victory in the Stella Artois Championship Qualifier (1500m).

Elephant looks an exciting staying talent for the Brown’s and his owner-breeder Andrew Fowler.

As well as the Cromwell Cup, Shocking recently quinella’d the Gr.3 NZ Cup (3200m) at Riccarton with Dragon Storm and Lincoln King. Last week at Sandown Shocking three-year-old Here To Shock broke his maiden in style and he looks a very progressive type.

With Shocking’s largest and best-bred crop now three-year-olds, we can expect to see a lot more of his progeny in the winner’s circle over the next few months.
