One To Watch - Hawkesbury

Mark Smith - Sunday December 6

Having purchased the talented racemare Transonic for $6,000 at the Inglis March Online Sale, Telemon Thoroughbreds would be feeling mighty pleased after Transonic's son Sonic Tycoon demolished a field of maidens over 1500m at Hawkesbury at his career debut on Sunday.

The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained 3yo gelding travelled sweetly in the run on the outside of the leader Dynamic Impact.

Sonic Tycoon failed to make his $100,000 reserve at the Classic Yearling Sale

When James Innes Jnr asked Sonic Tycoon to extend in the straight the son of Written Tycoon put the race to bed in a matter of strides.

The flashy chestnut defeated the Kermadec filly Mandalong Beyond by three lengths with a further neck back to the Vancouver filly, She's Justified in third.

A brother to the dual Sandown winner Tysonic, Sonic Tycoon was a $70,000 purchase out of the draft of his breeder Woodside Park Stud at the 2018 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale. He was re-offered at the 2019 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale where he failed to make his $100,000 reserve.

Transonic looks to be an inspired choice

Bred and raced by Patinack Farm, Transonic was a 4-time winner, including Canterbury and Rosehill, and placed in the Group II Wakeful Stakes and Group III Ethereal Stakes while banking over $245,000.

At the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale, Asset Racing (Aust) Ltd/Sheamus Mills Bloodstock (FBAA) signed the docket for $100,000 to secure a brother to Sonic Tycoon.

A daughter of the top-class South African performer, the dual Group 1 placed Jet Past (SAF), Transonic was sold with a positive test to Rich Enuff and on September 9 foaled a three-quarter sister to Sonic Tycoon and Tysonic.
