Weight will decide which flight a European Group I winner boards ahead of the 2017 Melbourne Cup.

Newmarket-based trainer Marco Botti told the Sporting Life Dylan Mouth is definitely making the trip.

"Dylan Mouth is going to go to Australia, it just depends if he goes on the first flight out there or the second one," Botti said.

"We are waiting until the weights are published next week then we will decide.

"If he goes on the second flight he might run in a Listed race at Chester (Stand Cup) on September 16 or the Arc Trial at Newbury.

"We didn't want to run before the weights came out as we didn't want to compromise his chance."

Dylan Mouth won three times at Group I level in Italy for Stefano Botti, the latest when defeating Circus Couture in the 2015 Premio Roma over 2000m.

The six-year-old entire was transferred to Marco Botti in 2016 and has raced seven times this year, winning the Old Newton Cup (1m4f) last time out at Haydock under 9:10 (61.5 kg) on July 6.

"The horse has been in great form since winning the Old Newton Cup. He has just had a little bit of time to freshen up as he went to Dubai earlier in the year so it has been a long season," Botti said.

"As he is an older horse he takes everything so well."

The weights for the 2017 Caulfield and Melbourne Cups will be announced on Tuesday. Dylan Mouth is rated a $34 chance with CrownBet in its all-in Melbourne Cup market.
