Winning Run for Bull Point

November has been a great month for Kingstar Farm’s young Fastnet Rock stallion Bull Point with four impressive new winners highlighted by exciting two year-old Readily Availabull, who scored a fast finishing win in the $250,000 Magic Millions Clockwise Classic (1000m) at Ballarat on Saturday.

Tuned up in Sydney with two good barrier trial performances the John Sargent trained colt Readily Availabull made successful hit and run raid into Victoria to take out the lucrative Magic Millions lead up race.

A $25,000 purchase from February's Tasmanian Yearling Sale at Launceston for trainer John Sargent and Mitchell Bloodstock, Readily Availabull charged home to win by a neck banking nearly $140,000 for his connections.

The win was celebrated by a large all female ownership group who are eyeing off the $500,000 Magic Millions Racing Women Bonus as part of the $2 million Classic in January.

"It's a fantastic result," John Sargent said. "I bought this horse down in Tasmania."

"I got him for $25,000. I used to buy there quite a while ago and hadn't been for a few years but went back for the last sale and thought he was a lovely colt.

"He reminded me of Encountabull ( stakes-placed winner of over $150,000) who I bought a year earlier by Bull Point.

"I bought him for a ladies syndicate. My wife, daughter and a lot of friends are in there and I'm sure they're thrilled with the win.

"The win has qualified him for the (2YO Classic) race. I was looking at going to Wyong, but we won't have to go there now.

"We might now trial him and go straight to the Gold Coast.

"He's done his job at the moment. He will come back from Melbourne tomorrow night to my Randwick stables and I will check him out and he can have a nice 10 days off."

Readily Availabull is the second winner from four to race out of the 3-time Sydney winning More Than Ready (USA) mare Readily, who has been a regular visitor to Bull Point in the past three seasons.

Bull Point stands at a fee of $8,800

Bull Point was also represented on Saturday by the Edward Cummings trained three year-old filly Evening Bride, who scored on debut at Gosford over 900m, while earlier in the month astute Kembla trainer Gwenda Markwell also enjoyed success with the young son of Fastnet Rock.

She produced two smart three year-old fillies to win in Point Hope and Star Point, the latter looking particularly promising when powering clear to win by more than two lengths at her second start over 1500m.

A Group I placed, Group III winning sprinter with stunning good looks that topped the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Bull Point is steadily improving his record with nine winners from just 24 runners and the promise of good things to come having covered his biggest book of 109 mares last spring.

Fastnet Rock is a noted sire of sires with eight of his sire sons producing Group I winners – Hinchinbrook, Foxwedge, Smart Missile, Atlante, Rothesay, Wanted, El Roca and Stryker - and it will be no surprise to anyone if Bull Point goes on to add his name to that list.

Bull Point stands at a fee of $8,800 and has excellent fertility for those considering a late season booking.
