One To Watch - Moonee Valley

Mark Smith - Saturday November 21

Here is a young horse with a future. Vowmaster kept his record at a perfect two for two with a thumping win over 1000 metres at Moonee valley on Friday night.

Ridden by Michael Walker for trainer Chris Waller, the 3yo gelded son of Written Tycoon came with a sweeping run from the back of the field to defeat Reward With Return (Reward For Effort) by two and a half lengths with Carlingford (Magnus) a further one and a quarter lengths back in third.

Vowmaster had been similarly impressive at his career debut a fortnight back at Kyneton. He was unraced at two and was gelded before making his first start

Judging by his high-profile group of owners, which include Yu Long Investments, Vowmaster would have been purchased as a likely stallion prospect when he went under the hammer at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Consigned by Torryburn Stud the chestnut was knocked down to Waller Racing/Mulcaster Bloodstock for $300,000.

Vowmaster was a $300,000 Magic Millions yearling

He is the second foal and first to race out of the high-class racemare Bring a Ring (Sebring) a stakes-winning daughter of another very accomplished, stakes-winning mare Hennessey Waltz (Hennessey).

It all adds up to good news for Torryburn who will offer a Pride Of Dubai half-brother to Vomaster at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale in January.
