Greg Polson previews Gundagai Sunday September 10

Greg Polson - Sunday September 10

Punters will have to wait until the last at Gundagai to find the best bet on the program but there is some value earlier with a Mick J Smith-trained gelding getting all the favours in the run.

The Richard Butler-trained Stormborn Angel looks well placed in the C.E Readford Memorial Class 1 Handicap (1180m) with her task made easier by the scratching of the early favourite Rockin' Red Rocket

Stormborn Angel was a Sapphire Coast winner two runs back before going down in a photo-finish when second at Nowra last time out.

Stormborn Angel is drawn to get the run of the race launching from barrier one and rates as the day's best bet.

The Smith-trained Cherokee Warrior is another drawn to get all the favours in the run when he contests the XXXX Gold Benchmark 60 Handicap (1400m).

Cherokee Warrior will be right on the speed from barrier five and at $6 in early betting markets looks genuine value.

An easy winner at Wagga over 1400m two runs back, Cherokee Warrior didn't see out 1600m at the same track last-start.

Back in distance on Sunday, Cherokee Warrior is expected to bounce back.
