Trained by Mike Moroney, three year-old filly Thunder Peak was a hot favourite to win the 1100m maiden and got the job done in style, accelerating impressively to win by more than two lengths under Lachlan King.

Thunder Peak was second at her only previous outing to subsequent stakes-winner La Mexicana, so there are almost certainly better wins in store for her.

Bought by Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm for $55,000 from the Aquis draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, she subsequently passed in as a yearling with her ownership now shared by Ballymore Stables, Rupert Legh Racing and Lauriston.

Thunder Peak is the first winner for stakes-placed Serein, whose 2YO colt by Divine Prophet will be offered by Gosford Park as Lot 58 at the NZB Ready to Run.
