Houtzen Family Poised for More Success

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 10

The first session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale produced a great result for Australian bred I Am Invincible mare Houtzen, who fetched $US1.5million ($A2,061,670) putting the spotlight on her mother and sisters at Yarraman Park

A Group III winner and Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner that amassed over $2million in earnings, Houtzen was bought by Stonestreet Holdings and was in foal to Curlin in her first season at stud.

Houtzen has been a racetrack star and now a sale ring star!

“She was a really brilliant 2-year-old in Australia – super fast,” Barbara Banke of Stonestreet said.

“She was in foal to my favourite stallion, so what is not to like?”

Houtzen sold for $1.5million at Keeneland November

Houtzen was originally bought for just $105,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions Yearling Sale Book 2 by her trainer Toby Edmonds from the Yarraman Park draft.

The success of Houtzen has put a premium value on her immediate family with her dam Set to Unleash fetching $900,000 when she was offered at the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale in 2019 and bought by Mitchell Bloodstock.

Her two year-old full sister made $1million for Yarraman Park when sold at Magic Millions this year to Asian Bloodstock Services and has been named California Gallant with Peter and Paul Snowden to train.

Set to Unleash has two more fillies to follow by I Am Invincible so we can expect this family to flourish in years to come.
