Playing God's Kay Cee Back On Track

After closing out her three-year old season with three consecutive wins highlighted by the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic, Kay Cee kickstarted the new season with a lacklustre eleventh in the Group III Northerly Stakes at (1400m) at Ascot.

Back to the same course and distance for Saturday’s $250,000 Group II Lee Steere Stakes, the Neville Parnham-trained daughter of Playing God was back to her best when powering home from back in the field to notch up her fifth stakes success.

Ridden by Steven Parnham, Kay Cee defeated Red Can Man (Gingerbread Man) by three-quarter of a length with Kementari (Lonhro) a further one and a quarter lengths back in third.

It advances her record to seven wins, two seconds and one third from 12 starts with earnings of $1,252,300.

A homebred for the Edwards family, Kay Cee is the only winner from two to race out of the lightly raced McFlirt mare Flirt ‘N’ Hope who is a daughter of the popular racemare Lizzy Long Legs whose nine wins included the Group III WATC AJ Scahill Stakes.

Flirt ‘N’ Hope has a 3yo gelding by Red Hot Choice named Red Hot Hope who has placed twice at Ascot in his two starts to date.

She was not covered in 2017 and 2018 before being bred back to Playing God last spring. She foaled a brother to Kay Cee on September 17.
