First Winner for Mikki Isle

Mark Smith - Sunday October 25

Former Arrowfield shuttler Mikki Isle (JPN) became the seventh first season sire to get off the mark in the first few months of the season when the Gillian Heinrich-trained filly Oriental Princess led at every call over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

Ridden by Michael Cahill, Oriental Princess was untroubled to defeat the fast-finishing favourite Oblique (I Am Invincible) by one and three-quarter lengths with Whistling Loren (Vancouver) a half-head back in third.

Oriental Princess a $150,000 Magic Millions yearling

Purchased by Winners Bloodstock for $150,000 out of the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Oriental Princess was the second-highest priced lot by her dual Group 1 winning sire.

A half-sister to stakes-placed Adamina (Snitzel), Oriental Princess becomes the fifth winner from as many foals out of the winning Anabaa (USA) mare Anadan.

Purchased by Paul Messara for $575,000 out of the Widden Stud draft at the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Anadan is a half-sister to the multiple stakes-placed Admiral Jello (Fastnet Rock) out of the Group 1  SAJC Adelaide Cup winner Demerger (Saithor).

The win is timely for Arrowfield as Anadan foaled a sister to Oriental Princess on September 4.

A son of Deep Impact, Mikki Isle (JPN) is currently the seventh top first season sire in Japan, a title led by his former Arrowfield stablemate Maurice (JPN).
