Busuttin Secures Two More Derby Prospects by Savabeel

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 20

After Savabeel three year-old Albarado put himself into Victoria Derby contention when winning the Group II MRC Caulfield Classic (2000m) last Saturday, his co-trainer Trent Busuttin declared he was in the market for more stock by his sire and he duly found something to his liking at the Inglis Ready2Race.

Busuttin Racing paid $330,000 for Lot 117, a Kiwi bred Savabeel colt from Simply You that was offered by Ohukia Lodge and galloped his breeze in 10.47 seconds.

A three-quarter brother-in-blood to Group II winner Acting, he is bred on the exact same cross as Albarado being from a winning O’Reilly daughter of Group I winner Glamour Puss.

The Savabeel x O’Reilly cross is super successful producing 18 stakes-winners, the nick running at nearly 14% stakes-winners to runners and 74% winners to runners.

Later in the day, Trent Busuttin also signed for Lot 220, another Savabeel colt bred the same way from O’Reilly mare Dubonnet and offered by Lime Country as agent for Trelawney Stud.
