Exciting Camelot 3YO Added to Tattersalls Horses in Training Sale

Media Release - Monday October 19

High class three-year-old colt ENGLISH KING, who went to post as 100/30 second favourite for the Derby, is to be offered for sale as a ‘Wildcard’ at next week’s Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale. He will be catalogued as lot 1153A and will be offered on Wednesday 28th October.

There will be a lot of Australian interest in English King.

Trained by Ed Walker for owner Bjorn Nielsen, the regally bred son of CAMELOT was an eye-catching fast finishing fifth in Europe’s premier Classic, a neck behind 2000 Guineas winner KAMEKO and three parts of a length in front of subsequent Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris winner MOGUL.

Rated 118 by Timeform, ENGLISH KING was the impressive winner of the Listed Lingfield Derby Trial prior to his bold showing at Epsom, comfortably beating BERKSHIRE ROCCO who went on to finish a neck second to GALILEO CHROME in the St Leger.

Described by Timeform as a 'well-made colt’ who ‘acts on tapeta and good to firm going’, the lightly raced ENGLISH KING is from the outstanding family of CHICQUITA, MAGIC WAND and ALEXANDROVA, as well as 2017 Melbourne Cup winner REKINDLING.

Commenting on ENGLISH KING, his trainer Ed Walker said;

“I genuinely believe ENGLISH KING is the best horse I have ever trained and I will be very sorry to see him sold. He is an outstanding prospect for the future having only raced six times and has all the credentials to attract potential buyers from throughout the world. He is a horse who loves fast ground and like all top-class horses has the ability to quicken off a fast pace as demonstrated in the Derby where he had the fastest final three furlongs of all."

The catalogue for the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale is out now and available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives and online at www.tattersalls.com. Live Internet Bidding and Phone bidding are also available with further information available on the Tattersalls website.
