Trumbull Flying the Flag for Inglis Ready2Race

Tara Madgwick - Sunday October 18

On the eve of the Inglis Ready2Race Sale there is no better advertisement than a top class sales graduate and we saw one on Saturday with the Kim Waugh trained Trumbull taking out the Group III ATC  Sydney Stakes (1200m).

A stakes-winner of the Listed ATC Civic Stakes at the end of last season, the five year-old son of Darci Brahma was resuming from a spell at Randwick and taking on the best field he had ever faced, but rose to the challenge.

Notorious for stepping away slowly from the gates, Trumbull made a clean getaway for Tommy Berry and enjoyed a good run in transit before powering clear and then holding off a challenge from Standout to win by half a neck.

It was a career best performance by Trumbull, who was purchased by his trainer for $125,000 at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale from the Mel O’Gorman Racing draft .

Trumbull has proven a great investment for his owners banking over $600,000 in prizemoney with seven wins and eight placings from 20 starts.

He was also a winner for Melanie O’Gorman, who pinhooked him from Inglis Classic for $65,000 before re-selling him at the Ready2Race.

For the record, he clocked 10.72 seconds in his breeze as pictured below.

Trumbull’s win was one of many significant results today for the Ready2Race Sale, with Tuesday’s edition receiving multiple pedigree updates.

Fox Hall (Foxwedge x Val de Loire) won the opener at Morphettville for Tony and Calvin McEvoy - his brother is lot 154 for Blake Ryan Racing.

And lot 139 (Dundeel x Tang) is a brother to Hit The Shot, which finished 3rd in the G3 Norman Robinson Stakes at Caulfield. The colt is being offered by Baystone Farm.

Inspections for the sale continuing today and Monday at Riverside before the auction begins at 10am Tuesday.
