Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Friday October 16

Two heats for juveniles at the Rosehill trials on Friday morning produced a pair of interesting winners in the most expensive Australian yearling sired by American Pharoah (USA) and a Godolphin homebred by I Am Invincible.

Champion trainer Chris Waller saddled all the runners in this heat with Head of State finishing ahead of his stablemates. A touch slow out of the gates he mustered speed and although green to the task, finished off well under his own steam to win by a neck at his first public outing.

Head of State runs for a big syndicate of varied owners and is a half-brother to Group II winner Man From Uncle from Danehill Dancer (IRE) mare Derelique, who comes from the family of Group I winner Summer Passage, Group II winner Shania Dane and stakes-winners such as Scintillation and  Northwest Passage.

The second heat was won in slower time by the James Cummings trained filly Trifaccia, who jumped from barrier one and held the fence, skipping clear in the straight and then working to the line under a hold together with the runner-up to win by a head.

Trifaccia is a half-sister to metro winner Columbina and is the last foal from stakes-winner Mascareri, a full sister to four time Group I winner Appearance.
