Black Type Goal for Shamus Award Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 14

The Ultra Thoroughbreds colours have been carried by two champions in Shamus Award and Miss Andretti and they combine in the pedigree of progressive colt Embolism, who made it two wins from three starts when bolting in at Caulfield on Wednesday.

Prepared by Danny O’Brien, who won the Cox Plate with his sire Shamus Award, Embolism won on debut and then did a few things wrong when finishing sixth at Flemington on September 23.

This time he made no mistakes when fitted with blinkers, cruising clear to win by three lengths.

A homebred for Ultra Thoroughbreds, Embolism has been given time to mature and will get his chance for Black Type with the Group III VRC Carbine Club Stakes and Group II MRC Sandown Guineas seen as likely targets.

Embolism is the first winner for Peggies Choice, a minor winning full sister to Australian Horse of the Year Miss Andretti, who won 19 races and over $2.5million in prizemoney with five of her victories in Group I events.

The most successful sire son of Snitzel, Shamus Award has some very good horses running for him at present including Mr Quickie and Swat’s That and stands at Rosemont Stud this spring a fee of $19,800.
