Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 12

Two juvenile heats at Randwick on Monday produced winners for champion sire Snitzel and Golden Slipper winner Capitalist.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Capitalist colt Captivant jumped from an outside gate and travelled deep throughout, surging to the line under a hold to win by a head.

Captivant was the fourth most expensive colt sired by Capitalist from his first crop and is bred to go quickly being from Speedboat, a half-sister to stakes-winning sprinter Cross Current and to the dams of Group I winner Crown Prosecutor and Group II winner Willow Creek.

It’s also the family of Group I sprinter River Dove and Group II winning sire Headwater.

The next heat was won in quicker time by Snitzel filly Cerda, who travelled deep throughout and touched out another Snitzel filly Four Moves Ahead, that is a half-sister to last Saturday’s Group III winner Emeralds.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Cerda is the first living foal of Group III placed I Am Invincible mare Comprende, who was bought by Widden Stud for $1,050,000 from the 2017 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale.
