Fastnet Rock Colt Out of Caulfield Guineas

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 6

A brilliant last start winner of the Group II MVRC Stutt Stakes, Glenfiddich is out of Saturday’s Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas after developing a wind problem.

Glenfiddich has hit a hurdle in his spring campaign.

Glenfiddich was one of the favourites for the $2 million stallion making race, but his trainer Peter Moody said the valuable Fastnet Rock colt has an entrapped epiglottis, which would require minor surgery.

The problem would also rule the colt out of tackling the Cox Plate.

Moody did not dismiss running Glenfiddich in the Group I VRC Coolmore Stakes on Victoria Derby day, but said spelling the three-year-old before an autumn campaign was a more realistic option.
