Exosphere Filly Wins G2 Edward Manifold

Tara Madgwick - Saturday October 3

A Group III winner last season at two, Thermosphere found the competition a bit hot in the Princess Series in Sydney this spring, but switched to Melbourne for the Group II VRC Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) she returned to winning form.

A class above her rivals on race performance, Thermosphere used that class edge to advantage in travelling wide but proving too strong at the finish to win by a short neck.

“She came down here well conditioned from her races in Sydney and her riders thought she’d run the mile and James was confident she’d get it as well,: said stable representative Sean Keogh.

A homebred for Godolphin trained by James Cummings, Thermosphere has won three races from nine starts with two seconds and prizemoney just shy of $355,000.

She is the first winner for Canny Lad’s stakes-winning daughter Glows, who comes from the family of Group III winner Falaise.

Glows has another two year-old colt to follow by Exosphere called Brillar and is back in foal to him again with her yearling colt by another Lonhro son in Pierro.

A brilliant winner of the Group I ATC Golden Rose, Exosphere stands at Darley at a fee of $16,500.
