First Stakes Win for Bivouac Brother

Tara Madgwick - Saturday September 26

A full brother to dual Group I winner Bivouac, six year-old Exceed and Excel gelding Corsucate found his moment to shine at Caulfield on Saturday when taking out the Listed MRC Testa Rossa Stakes (1200m).

A homebred for Godolphin trained by James Cummings, Coruscate was resuming from a spell and found himself in a very winnable race with just six runners.

He stalked the pace for Damien Oliver and powered clear to win by two and a quarter lengths eased down.

“That’s the third time he’s travelled interstate and won first up,” said stable representative Sean Keogh.

“It’s good for him to have that breakout win at Listed level.”

Coruscate has the overall record of seven wins and eight placings from 21 starts with prizemoney topping $450,000.

Coruscate is the second stakes-winner for his well bred More Than Ready (USA) dam Dazzler joining $2.2million earner Bivouac, who won the Group I ATC Golden Rose last year.

Dazzler is a half-sister to Champion 3YO Filly Guelph ( dam of Group II winner Encryption) being a daughter of Group I winner Camarilla from the family of Golden Slipper winner Sepoy.

Dazzler has a Medaglia D’Oro (USA) two year-old filly called Glittery, a Lonhro yearling colt and was covered by Exceed and Excel again last spring.

Coruscate is the 176th stakes-winner for Darley’s champion sire Exceed and Excel, who stands at a fee of $132,000 this year.
