Watch Horses at the 2YO Trials

Tara Madgwick - Sunday September 20

There is always a huge amount of interest in the first official two year-old trials of the season and with nine heats there are plenty of watch horses including expensive yearlings, bluebloods and a horse whose colouring will make him the most unusual horse on show at Randwick on Monday.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Navajo raced by David Grant who dabbles in coloured thoroughbreds and this two year-old colt is bred for colour being by Moonlark (USA) from Maybe Mabelline.

She’s an unraced pure white daughter of a noted source of coloured thoroughbreds Profile in Style (USA).

The most expensive two year-old engaged to run is I Am Invincible colt Montenegro, who was bought by Tom Magnier for $1.4million at Inglis Easter from the Kia Ora Stud draft.

The third foal of Group II winning juvenile Twilight Royale, he is trained by Chris Waller and runs for a diverse partnership of owners and breeders headed by Coolmore and including Sir Peter Vela with Kia Ora Stud also retaining a share.

Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou put the polish on Joyous Legend, a Snitzel filly from champion mare More Joyous that was sold by John Singleton at Inglis Easter for $800,000 to Everest contender Classique Legend’s owner Bon Ho.
