Thousand Guineas Goal for Written Tycoon's Odeum

Mark Smith - Saturday September 19

Progressive three-year-old filly Odeum is a stakes-winner at her third start following a dominant performance in Saturday’s Listed Jim Moloney Stakes at Caulfield and connections believe she has the potential to go to the top of the class this spring.

No traffic troubles here, under a picture-perfect ride by Michael Walker the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr trained filly came away to defeat the favourite Aidensfield (Dissident) by one and a half lengths with Mozzie Monster (Sebring) a further length back in third.

“That was fantastic, we thought she could run a place but to win like that by a big margin with ears pricked was impressive,” Kent Jnr said.

“Congratulations to all the owners, Sheamus Mills who picked her out, and a lovely ride by Michael Walker who gave her a lovely run.

“She ran like a mile would suit so obviously the (Thousand) Guineas  would be on the agenda.”

Bred by Newhaven Park and part of their draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Odeum was knocked down to Sheamus Mills Bloodstock (FBAA) for $420,000.

Odeum was a $420,000 Magic Millions Yearling

A half-sister to the Listed ATC Brian Crowley Stakes Goodfella, she becomes the second stakes-winner from three to race out of the stakes-placed Red Ransom (USA) mare Movie a daughter of the Listed AJC Keith Mackay Hcp winner strawberry Storm from the family of stakes-winner Danroad, Newtown Jet, Strawberry Boy and Tippitaka.

Movie’s 2yo I Am invincible colt made $400,000 to the bid of Belmont Bloodstock P/L (FBAA) at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

After foaling a filly by Zoustar last spring she was bred back to the high-profile Widden stallion again.

Odeum becomes the 35th stakes-winner for Written Tycoon who makes his Arrowfield stud debut this season after loyal service at Woodside Park.
