One to Watch – Scone

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday September 8

Sadly for Australian breeders there are no Japanese sires on the Arrowfield roster this year thanks to the pandemic, but one of them did give us an eye-catching winner at Scone on Tuesday that was among the top sellers at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale last year.

Prepared by Paul Messara, handsome chestnut colt Tempel One was well fancied to win the 1300m maiden at his first run back from a spell and got the job done in style.

He powered clear under Christian Reith to win by two and a half lengths at his third start.

A $310,000 purchase for Andrew Williams Bloodstock from the Blake Ryan Racing draft at the Inglis Ready2Race, Tempel One was sourced by Ryan for $75,000 from the Arrowfield draft at  Inglis Classic.

Blake Ryan Racing have another great draft of 20 for the 2020 Inglis Ready 2Race Sale on October 20, click here to see them.

Tempel One is a half-brother to Group III placed Game of Thorns being the second winner from Only Roses, a half-sister by Redoute’s Choice to Group III winners The Inevitable and Blahnik as well as stakes-winner Elysees.

Tempel One as a yearling

Tempel One is the fifth first crop winner in Australia for Real Impact (Jpn), who has sired 41 winners in Japan headed by Group I winner Lauda Sion.

A Group I winning son of Deep Impact that proved his mettle in Australia winning the Group I ATC George Ryder Stakes, Real Impact shuttled to Arrowfield for three seasons between 2016 and 2018.
