Spendthrift Australia Join Breednet Stallion Parades

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 7

Spendthrift Australia have added their five stallions to our Stallion Parades section and given I’m no chance of going to Victoria anytime soon, I’ve got to say I’m a little excited to get a close look at their US shuttlers for this year Omaha Beach (USA) and Vino Rosso (USA), two of the most interesting horses to stand anywhere in Australia this year.

Spendthrift have brought out a number of US sires in recent years, but nothing of the quality of these two horses.

Omaha Beach never missed a place in 10 starts, was a triple Group I winner from 1200 to 1800m and is the best North American performed son of champion sire War Front.

At Spendthrift in Kentucky he stands for $US45,000 and Australian breeders have access to him at just $22,000.

Vino Rosso won the Group I Breeders Cup Classic, the US equivalent of our Cox Plate and is the highest stakes earner for his champion sire Curlin.

He stands for a fee of $US30,000 in the US and is priced here at the bargain sum of $13,750.

It should be noted that Vino Rosso is from a daughter of Street Cry, who has a very similar profile in terms of race record to Vino Rosso and has proven to be one of the best shuttle sires we’ve ever had here giving us world champion Winx.
