Blueblood Makes a Belated Winning Debut

Mark Smith - Thursday September 3

Much is expected of a horse that was passed in short of his $650,000 reserve, is a half-brother to two stars on the track who are now making a name for themselves at stud, and a mum that cost $3,400,000, still the Kris Lees-trained Berruti had to wait until a couple of months into his four-year-old season to make a belated racetrack debut.

Sent off a short-priced favourite Berruti made punters sweat as he came from midfield, raced very greenly and needed the length of the straight to run down the Charm Spirit (IRE) mare Enamour by a half-length with a further four and a quarter lengths back to the 3yo Super One filly She's Super in third in the 1000 maiden at Muswellbrook on Thursday.

The son of Medaglia d’Oro (USA) carries the colours of Bruce Neil’s Cressfield Stud after he was passed in at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Berruti failed to make his $650,000 reserve at the 2018 Australian Easter Yearling Sale

The half-brother to Shooting To Win and Deep Field is a son of Listen Here (Dehere) who rewrote the record books selling for the then all-time Magic Millions record price of $3.4 million to the bid of China Horse Club/Bruce Perry Bloodstock at the 2016 National Broodmare Sale when she was carrying Berruti.

Danny O’Brien has an unraced 3yo Snitzel colt out of Listed Here named Rights Of Man who will race for the China Horse Club and Cressfield.

Not covered in 2017, Listed Here foaled am I am Invincible filly last spring before missing when returning to the Yarraman Park champion stallion.
