Winning Run for So You Think

Tara Madgwick - Sunday August 30

Three metropolitan winners and a stylish return to racing for exciting colt Peltzer made Saturday a good day at the office for leading sire So You Think, who is one of four stallions to reach $1million in progeny earnings before the end of the first month of the new season..

The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou trained Peltzer might have lost his undefeated tag when finishing second to Anders in the Group III ATC San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill, but he lost none of his admirers.

First up from a spell, Peltzer found the rock hard and race fit Anders too quick on this occasion going down by three lengths, but Anders did run a race record and very nearly a course record in carving out the 1100m in a blistering 1:02.67.

Peltzer stuck to his task and will derive much benefit from the outing.

"It was a good run and I am really happy," said his rider Kerrin McEvoy.

"It was run at a good speed. We are going to get nice benefit from that.”

Earlier on the Rosehill program, the Chris Waller trained mare Word for Word won the Benchmark 78 event over 2000m ending a frustrating run of minor placings when defeating her stablemate Guise, another daughter of So You Think.

At Caulfield, it was the Matt Ellerton and Simon Zahra trained mare So You Swing that kept the winning run going when scoring in a Benchmark 90 event over 1400m.

At Morphettville, the Caulfield Guineas entered three year old So You Can confirmed his potential with an easy victory as favourite over 1250m.

He is prepared by astute conditioners Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas who are no strangers to springtime stakes success in Melbourne and with two wins from four starts, So You Can is progressing in the right direction.

So You Think is off and running this season!

So You Think stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $38,500.
