Final Two Foals of Godolphin’s Blue Hen Youthful Presence Salute at Randwick

Mark Smith - Wednesday August 26

Following wins at his first two starts at Newcastle and Kembla Grange, Godolphin’s Lonhro gelding Criaderas faced his moment of truth against some promising types over 1250m on the Kensington track at Randwick on Wednesday and he put them to the sword in track record time but that was not the end of the family fortunes.

Later on in the program, Criaderas full-brother Suave powered justified his favouritism when powering home under Kerrin McEvoy in the Heineken Hcp (1400m), his third win in six starts.

Lonhro (Mark Smith)

Ridden by James McDonald for trainer James Cummings, Criaderas was second last and off the bit chasing as Beach Baby set solid fractions out in front.

The favourite On The Lead looked a likely winner when Jason Collett found a narrow seam between runners however Criaderas was just warming up down the centre of the track and he powered passed On The Lead (I Am Invincible) to win by one and three-quarter lengths   with Rock Amore (Fastnet Rock) a further half length back in third.

"He is a very casual horse. With his trials, I know they were on wet tracks, but I wouldn't like to be playing poker with him," assistant trainer Darren Beadman told AAP.

"He had us all guessing whether he would turn up here today but obviously when the saddle goes on he puts it all together.

"He's got a nice little bit of class about him."

Criaderas is the 13th and final foal of Godolphin’s blue hen Youthful Presence.

The unraced daughter of Dehere (USA) has had nine reach the track and all are winners All nine of her foals to reach the track are winners led by the Group 1 Epsom Handicap winner Hauraki (Reset), the Group 1 South Australian Derby winner Kidnapped (Viscount), the Group II Western Australian Guineas winner and Group 1 BRC TJ Smith Stakes third Academus (Lonhro) and the Listed Hill Smith Stakes winner Deledio (Test Rossa).
