Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 20

This close relation to $5.5million earner Trapeze Artist is fast becoming the most exciting horse in far north Queensland.

The loss of Aquis Farm’s promising young sire Spill the Beans was highlighted on Thursday by brilliant six length winner Derulo, who is another great example of the great value to be found buying through Inglis Digital Online sales.

Trained by Rodney Miller, three year-old gelding Derulo was shooting for his fourth straight win in the 1250m open three year-old event at Cairns and was sent out a hot favourite.

An easy winner at his first three runs at Cairns and Townsville, Derulo again gave his regular rider Bonnie Tomson an easy sit and steer assignment, cruising to the lead and powering away to win as he pleased under 60kg.

Derulo was offered by Aquis Farm at the 2019 Magic Millions Book Two Sale fetching $80,000 to the bid of Aquis Farms P/L/James Moore/Summit Racing Aus, but found himself up for sale again a year later when offered by Aquis as an unraced two year-old in the Inglis Digital January Sale.

Derulo was bought for $15,000 from the 2020 Inglis Digital January Sale - click to see his page.

There he was bought buy his current owners for $15,000 and since then has won over $73,000 in prizemoney with the promise of more to come as the $35,000 Magic Millions Daintree Cairns Guineas on Friday August 28 is his next target.

Derulo is a half-brother to three winners from good producer Tiptoe, a half-sister by Viscount to Group I winner Crawl and stakes-winner Old Man.

Tiptoe is also a half-sister to the dam of Champion 3YO and four time Group I winner Trapeze Artist, who is bred along similar lines to Derulo being by Spill the Beans sire Snitzel.

Derulo is one of 14 first crop winners for Spill the Beans, who died prematurely last year after just four seasons at stud.
