Winners in Both Hemispheres for Vancouver

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 18

Vancouver posted his third Australian winner of the new season at Scone on Tuesday with a runaway debut victory for Ice in Vancouver , who has an interesting pedigree.

The Cody Morgan trained gelding was ridden quietly from an outside gate in the 1000m maiden and hit the line strongly to win by nearly four lengths.

Retained to race by his breeder, Ice in Vancouver is the third winner from three foals to race out of stakes-placed Bradbury’s Luck mare Skating on Ice.

Her sire Bradbury’s Luck is from Group I winner Skating, who is also the grand-dam of Vancouver, so Ice in Vancouver has a double cross of not only champion sire Danehill, but also blue hen Skating.

Ice in Vancouver is the second winner in two days for Vancouver, who also had a smart winner at Gulfstream in the US with promising filly Rock with Robin becoming his fifth winner in North America.

Rock with Robin won over five furlongs at her fourth start and is a half-sister to stakes-winner Coco’s Wildcat from the family of Medaglia D’Oro’s champion daughter Songbird.

A Golden Slipper winning son of Medaglia D’Oro, Vancouver stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $30,250.
