New Stakes-Winner for I Am Invincible

Tara Madgwick - Saturday July 25

Featured by Mark Smith as his weekend Best on Breeding tip, I Am Invincible filly Parlophone was heavily backed to win the Listed SAJC Lightning Stakes (1050m) and justified the faith of punters when racing to a commanding victory confirming her potential as a racehorse rather than a rodeo bronc.

Trained by Mick Price and Mick Kent Jr, Parlophone settled back in the field and charged to the line to win running away by three lengths with Jess Eaton on board.

It was a first Black Type win for the young jockey, who started her apprenticeship with Mick Price.

Parlophone has a history of bucking when she leaves the gates, but Jess Eaton managed to resolve that issue and got the best from the talented filly in the run to the line.

“The main objective today was getting her out of the gates smoothly and fortunately that happened and then she got a great run in transit,” said Eaton.

“She was just too good. She still does things wrong, so there is a lot to improve on. She’s going to be a classy mare for sure.”

Retained to race by her breeders, Parlophone has the tidy record of two wins and a second from four starts with prizemoney in excess of $111,000.

Parlophone is a sibling to Group III winner Sun City and Group II placed Spin being the fourth winner from four foals to race from stakes-winning Flying Spur mare Roulettes.

Her success will be great news for Telemon Thoroughbreds, who are standing Sun City this year in his first season at a fee of $7,700.

Roulettes has a yearling colt by Deep Field that was sold at Magic Millions this year for $800,000 to Alan Bell.

I Am Invincible is the sire of Parlophone

Parlophone is the 56th stakes-winner for I Am Invincible, who stands at Yarraman Park at a fee of $209,000.
