Debut Winner for Vancouver

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 23

Golden Slipper winner Vancouver has gathered momentum in the latter part of this season adding a new debut winner to his tally when Royal Exit saluted as favourite at Warrnambool on Thursday.

Trained by Michael Williams, he made light of the heavy ground to race on the pace and win in the 1100m maiden by the best part of a length.

A $70,000 Inglis Premier purchase for M J Williams Thoroughbreds / Sheamus Mills Bloodstock (FBAA) from the Erinvale Thoroughbreds draft, Royal Exit is the second winner from Kamarla Rose, a winning sister to Group III winner Sharnee Rose.

Royal Exit is the 11th Australian bred winner for Vancouver, whose best offspring to date is the South African trained Group II winner Mount Pleasant along with stakes-placed Vangelic, Postcode, Ticket to Ride and Canadian Spice.

A son of champion sire Medaglia D’Oro, Vancouver looks great value this spring at Coolmore a fee of $30,250 given expectation his progeny will only improve with maturity.
