Tara Madgwick - Sunday July 19

Placed at every run he’s had this year, talented Rubick gelding Wilmot Pass scored a well deserved victory at Flemington on Saturday.

Trained by Anthony Freedman, Wilmot Pass was having his second run back after a short break and hit the line hard to post a neck win for Jamie Kah.

“He was run off his feet first up and really appreciated the 1200m this time and got the job done well,” said stable representative Steve Adams.

Wilmot Pass was a modest $35,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Edinglassie draft for North South Bloodstock and has been a terrific purchase with three wins and two placings from eight starts producing over $134,000 in prizemoney.

Wilmot Pass is the third winner from stakes-placed Volksraad (GB) mare Manapouri, who is back in foal to Rubick after producing two fillies by another of the young Coolmore sires in Adelaide.

Rubick will finish this season as the leading second crop sire by earnings with his 40 plus winners including Group II winner Rubisaki and stakes-winner Condo’s Express as well as his Everet winner Yes Yes Yes, who will stand alongside his sire at Coolmore this spring.

Rubick stands at a fee of $33,000, while Yes Yes Yes is priced at $38,500.
