Galileo Quinella Holds Aussie Interest

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 13

The worth of Choisir as a broodmare sire was highlighted again overnight in Ireland at Killarney when his Galileo daughter Lovelier landed her first Black Type win in the Listed Cairn Rouge Stakes (1m) defeating another Galileo filly Celestial Object, who is a daughter of triple Aussie Group I winner Sea Siren.

Second at her previous start in Group III company, Celestial Object was sent out favourite and led for home, but was overhauled by the Aidan O’Brien trained Lovelier, who scored by a length to break her maiden at her third start.

A homebred for Coolmore, Lovelier is a full sister to Group I winner Winter and is the fifth winner from five to race from Choisir winner Laddies Poker Two, whose third dam is Champion French filly Ancient Regime.

Lovelier is the 18th stakes-winner for Choisir as a broodmare sire, his success in this area highlighted over the weekend by the win of Oxsted in the Group I Darley July Cup, read about him here.

Footnote:  Runner-up Celestial Object is the first foal for Sea Siren to race and looks well capable of winning a Black Type race this year.

A triple Group I winner by Fastnet Rock, Sea Siren was also a Listed winner in Ireland before retiring to stud at Coolmore and has been covered exclusively by Galileo.
