First Winner for Nostradamus

Tara Madgwick - Sunday July 12

On a day where Rosemont had fingerprints on results all over the country, it was the city winning performance in Perth that had the Geelong farm cheering loudest.

Two-year-old filly Clairvoyance put in a strong performance on debut to become the first winner for Rosemont freshman stallion Nostradamus, race caller Darren McAullay declaring the strong filly a future star.

Nostradamus

“It’s great to see him get on the board,” Rosemont’s Anthony Mithen said. “He’s got a bunch of talented of horses and trainers keep telling me they have a nice one but its great to see it happen. “

Mithen predicted the popular stallion could be in for a flurry of winners with a few Rosemont-owned Nostradamus 2yos trialling well in recent weeks and ready to go to the races.

“He’s got the favourite on Tuesday at Seymour for Mick Price too. He might be about to get a real wriggle on.”

A son of Medaglia D’Oro, Nostradamus is a half brother to Star Witness and was a one time Golden Slipper favourite who won three times at G3 level.

It wasn’t the only Rosemont 2yo to make an impact on another busy winter Saturday for the farm. Easter graduate and Longwood-bred I Am Invincible colt Efflorescence took the 2yo event at Caulfield and looks to be a spring colt for the Freedman team.

“He is just a frame at this stage and is probably six months away so hopefully he can just keep improving,” assistant trainer Sam Freedman said.

Rosemont sold Efflorescence for $510,000 to Phoenix Thoroughbreds on behalf of clients Longwood Thoroughbreds at Inglis Easter sale last year.

And to round out a day of results in all quarters, the Rosemont part-owned and sold Krone deservedly took out the Listed Glasshouse Stakes at the Sunshine Coast for Tony Gollan.

“She deserved that win,” Mithen said. “She’s such a tough filly. We bought her as a yearling and Mark Young prepped her for the Magic Millions Breeze-Up sale. We liked her so much through that process we partnered with Roll The Dice to race her and she has now won three stakes races for us all. She’s a real darling.”

Krone is part-owned by Rosemont after being bought by Roll The Dice Racing at the Magic Millions Breeze Up sale

A decision will now be made if Krone races on for the syndicate or if she sells next Monday at Magic Millions Broodmare sales where she holds an entry. A decision will be made during the week.
