Bon Hoffa's Noble Boy Back to his Best in Winter Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday July 11

You could be excused for thinking that Noble boy had his moment in the sun when winning the $500,000 Country Championship at Randwick in April last year.

The son of Bon Hoffa had been building up an impressive strike rate for trainer Todd Blowes. After taking his record to seven wins from eight start when winning his next start at Eagle Farm, Noble Boy then failed to win at his next six starts. He was transferred to Clare Cunningham after finishing last in the Group II Villiers Stakes.

With the in-form Jason Collett in the saddle, Noble Boy was making his fourth start for Cunningham stable in Saturday’s Listed Kia Winter Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill.

With most jockeys heading to the better going down the centre of the tack, Collett stuck closest to the rails on Noble Boy who finished best to defeat Taikomochi (Snitzel) by a neck with Order Again   (Iffraaj) a neck back in third.

With his maiden stakes success the 5yo son of Bon Hoffa advances his record to 8 wins and 2 thirds from 18 starts with earnings of $735,375.

Bred and part-owned by Donna Smart, Noble Boy is the best of two winners from three to race out of the Manner Hill mare Lady Dignity.

No-one could accuse connections of not giving Lady Dignity her chance on the track.
