Perfect Record for $1.6million Mare

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 8

Featured recently in one of our Breednet stories on Australia’s most expensive mares, $1.6 million purchase Polska kept her record perfect as the dam of four foals to race all winners with her two year-old Sebring colt Toyetic saluting at Sandown on Wednesday.

Polska was bought by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock on behalf of Jonathan Munz’s GSA Bloodstock from the Widden Stud draft at the 2017 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when she was already the dam of Group II winners Catch a Fire and Seaburge.

She was in foal to Sebring, who is the sire of both Catch a Fire and Seaburge, with the resulting foal from that mating being Toyetic.

Consigned to the 2019 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling sale in the draft of Bhima Thoroughbreds, he made $300,000 to the bid of Anthony Freedman Racing / Blue Sky Bloodstock (FBAA) and runs for a partnership that includes his breeder in whose colours he runs.

Trained by Anthony Freedman, Toyetic was having his second start today in the 1200m maiden following a close second on debut at Geelong and got the job done in style as favourite.

“We think he’s above average and in time will get out to a mile or maybe a bit further and as a rising three year-old there will be some nice races for him in the spring,” said Sam Freedman.

A half-sister by Encosta de Lago to the dam of Caulfield Guineas winner Mighty Boss, Polska is from Group I winner La Volta and has barely missed a beat in her stud career to date with her foru foasl to race by Sebring all winners headed by Group II winners Catch a Fire and Seaburge, who won over $1million between them.

Polska made $1.6million at the 2017 MM National Broodmare Sale

She has a yearling filly and weanling filly to follow by Snitzel and was covered by Dundeel last spring.
