Smart Winner for Triple Crown

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 8

The Triple Crown Syndications team were in the winner’s circle at Warwick Farm on Wednesday when two year-old Smart Missile colt Smart Image made a winning debut.

Prepared by Peter and Paul Snowden, he was tenacious to the line, running down the favourite Beyliks to win the 1200m maiden by half a head with Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle.

A $100,000 Magic Millions purchase for Triple Crown from the Newgate Farm draft, Smart Image as bred by SF Bloodstock in partnership and is the third winner from Group III winner Shared Reflections.

Smart Image as a yearling

A Gooree Stud homebred, Shared Reflections was bought by Newgate and partners from their draft at the 2017 Inglis Broodmare Sale for $255,000 when carrying Smart Image.

Newgate sold her current yearling colt by Capitalist at the Inglis Easter Round 2 Sale on Sunday for $80,000 and she was covered last spring by Russian Revolution.

Smart Image is another good winner for Twin Hills Stud’s Smart Missile, who has sired the winners of over $8million this season including six stakes-winners headed by Group III winner Ballistic Boy.

The son of Fastnet Rock stands at a fee of $22,000 this spring.
