Third Winner for Shalaa

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 7

Arrowfield Stud shuttler Shalaa (IRE) posted his third winner overnight with promising filly No Speak Alexander bolting in by six and a half lengths.

The Jessica Harrington trained filly improved from a debut seventh to score the easiest of wins in the seven and a half furlong maiden at Roscommon.

Shalaa is the sire of impressive winner No Speak Alexander.

“That's what we thought she would do. We were disappointed at Navan in a race that turned out to be very good,” said assistant trainer Kate Harrington.

“We thought she was one of our real early fillies. She was ready to run just before Covid hit and then all she did was grow and grow. She was a real pocket rocket originally but has grown. She really enjoyed that and saw out the trip well.”

No Speak Alexander is the first winner for stakes-winning Dandy Man mare Rapacity Alexander, a full sister to Group I winning sprinter Peniaphobia.

She is the third winner from 16 runners for Shalaa, who also sired Saeiqa to finish third in the Group II Royal Ascot Coventry Stakes.

His oldest Australian progeny will be two year-olds in the new season and Shalaa is slated to return to Arrowfield this spring at a fee of $33,000.
