Kingman Colt Impressive at Newcastle

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 7

Invincible Spirit stallion Kingman is one of the hottest young sires in Europe and he made it two Australian winners from two runners when his talented colt Kingsheir (GB) won as a short priced favourite on debut at Newcastle on Tuesday.

Prepared by Team Hawkes, the Orbis Bloodstock owned Northern Hemisphere bred three year-old had shown good ability in recent trials.

Co-trainer Michael Hawkes was optimistic about his prospects before the race and Kingsheir delivered on expectation, powering to the line to win the 1300m maiden by two lengths with his last furlong his best.

A 110,000 euro purchase from the 2018 Arqana Deauville Yearling Sale, Kingsheir is the second winner from Rose Memory, a half-sister by Elusive City to Group II winner Hard Dream.

Kingman stands at Juddmonte Farms at a fee of 150,000 pounds

With is oldest progeny just four year-olds, Kingman has already sired 22 stakes-winners headed by Group I winning milers Persian King and Palace Pier, along with his brilliant Group II winning sprinter Calyx, who will shuttle to Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $17,600.
