Inglis Ready2Race Breeze Ups at Cranbourne

Media Release - Monday September 4

The Melbourne breeze-ups for the 2017 Inglis Ready2Race sale have today been completed at a wet and windy Cranbourne Turf Club, with 82 horses dashing around the track on their way to the sale.

The two-year-olds, all of which will be sold at next month's sale in Melbourne, breezed up on the Cranbourne course proper with a solid crowd including vendors, potential buyers and spectators.

The track was rated a genuine Soft 7 at Cranbourne. For the last two years, the Canterbury gallops have been conducted on a soft surface and buyers certainly account for track conditions when assessing the times.

Amongst the top 10 times today were sons of Kuroshio, Foxwedge, Epaulette, Zoustar, Artie Schiller and Bel Espirit.

The Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm draft was particularly strong, with 7 of their lots being in the fastest 10 times of the day.

Inglis' Victorian Bloodstock Manager Simon Vivian said "The day was professionally conducted and incident free. There were a few breaks for track maintenance to ensure a consistent surface, but it was all conducted efficiently"

"The times were very balanced, which is well done. Everybody was very happy with the way it went," Vivian said.

"Cranbourne did a very good job with the track. Overall the horses were presented very well by our vendors and the riders that breezed the horses did a fabulous job given their workload and the weather conditions."

A further 71 two-year-olds will breeze up at either Canterbury on Friday September 9, where the track is expected to be Good, or the alternate breeze up session is back at Cranbourne on Monday October 2.

All horses that breezed up will be offered at the 2017 Inglis Ready2Race sale at the Oaklands Melbourne complex on Wednesday October 4.

Last year's sale has already seen tremendous success on the racetrack, with Debelattio winning at Group level in Perth, and again on Saturday. Similarly, the Inglis China-Australia cup, run over the weekend, was won by Striking Eagle, a 2016 Ready2Race purchase.
