Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 6

Six heats for juveniles at the Warwick Farm barrier trials on Monday produced some interesting winners, but none more so than the half-brother to $5million earner Pierata.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, two year-old Rubick colt Jet Propulsion had a quiet trial at his first public appearance for a soft second at Randwick on June 26 and this time was asked to do a little more.

He jumped well for Tommy Berry to travel behind the leaders and then slipped through along the fence to surge clear under a hold and win his 803m heat by two lengths in 47.34 seconds, which was the quickest of the two year-old trials.

A $900,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Kitchwin Hills draft for  T Magnier / Ciaron Maher Bloodstock, Jet Propulsion runs for Coolmore and various partners including Kia Ora Stud, Rosemount Stud and Hobartville Stud, who bred the colt.

He is the most expensive yearling by his sire Rubick and is a half-brother to not only charismatic Group I winner Pierata, but also Group III winner Ashokan being from the good producing Flying Spur stakes-winner November Flight.

November Flight has a weanling filly by Pierata’s sire Pierro and is back in foal to him again.
