Prepared by Mick Price and Mick Kent Jr, Sense of Honour won easily at Sandown on debut in late January and was then a close up fourth when resuming from a spell at Moonee Valley last month.

She took good improvement from that outing and was strong to the line for Ben Melham to score a neck victory in the $111,200 VRC 2yo Sprint Series Final Open (1200m).

“She probably needs a bit of a break, so I’ll let her do some flat work on the arena and keep her mentally active over winter,” said Mick Price.

“We need to make a spring filly out of her now as she’s a Phoenix owned filly, so they want stakes horses.”

A $340,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Phoenix Thoroughbreds from the Coolmore draft, Sense of Honour was the most expensive yearling from the first crop of Pride of Dubai and is one of 11 first crop winners for the son of Street Cry (IRE).

She has already made a fine start to her career with two wins and a fourth from three starts and prizemoney just shy of $100,000.

Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Sense of Honour is a half-sister to Group II placed Serious Liaison and is the third winner from three to race from stakes-placed Husson (Arg) mare Little Miss Smiley, who appears to be married to Pride of Dubai.

Little Miss Smiley has two colts to follow by Pride of Dubai and was covered by him again last year. Her current yearling colt was sold by Coolmore at Inglis Easter for $290,000 to Hawkes Racing.

Pride of Dubai stands at Coomore at a fee of $38,500.
