One to Watch – Cranbourne

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 2

Medaglia D’Oro (USA) no longer shuttles to Australia for Darley, but he has given us some great horses during his time here including Golden Slipper winning sire Vancouver and featured at Cranbourne on Thursday with an ultra impressive juvenile winner.

A homebred for Godolphin trained by Anthony Freedman, two year-old gelding Endanger drew wide but overcame that inconvenience to win the 1200m maiden running away by nearly four lengths.

A three-quarter brother-in-blood to Group III winner Java, Endanger is the second and final foal of Group II winning Flying Spur mare Hazard, who died in 2018 after producing just two foals.

Hazard was also a Godolphin homebred and was a half-sister to Group III winners Java (by Medaglia D’Oro), Crucial and Antelucan from good producer Dawn Attack (IRE), a half-sister to Champion 3YO Colt and triple Group I winner Desert King.

The last Australian bred crop of Medaglia D’oro foals are yearlings with 20 selling so far this year at an average $231,000.
