Victorian Bred Stakes-Winning 2YO Sold to Hong Kong

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday June 30

Astute Cranbourne trainer Greg Eurell has confirmed the sale of his promising two year-old colt Ilovemyself, who opened his career with a debut win in the Listed VRC Very Special Kids Plate (1000m).

A homebred for Larneuk Stud’s Neville Murdoch, Ilovemyself had just one other start finishing sixth in the Group III ATC Pago Pago Stakes behind Prague.

"It's very disappointing because I thought he was a really promising horse," Eurell told Racing.com.

"When he first won at Flemington we had a lot of interest in him but Neville (Murdoch, owner) deflected most of that.

"After Sydney he went to the paddock and we had no interest in him at all but then he came back into work and for whatever reason, it just started to generate again.

"Understandably, the offer was too good to refuse.

"He'd been back in work for six and seven weeks and he was going terrific.

"He'd grown and developed and he was just an outstanding-looking individual."

Ilovemyself is reported to be joining the stable of Caspar Fownes.

By Group I ATC Randwick Guineas winner Ilovethiscity, Ilovemyself is the first stakes-winner from five winners out of the good producer Sunstyle.

Ilovethiscity is the sire of Ilovemyself and Ilovethegame.

Sunstyle has been kept busy at Larneuk Stud and has a yearling filly by the stud’s resident Fastnet Rock stallion Cluster and a weanling colt by their young Street Cry (IRE) stallion Wolf Cry, who covered her again last year.

Ilovemyself’s sire Ilovethiscity has had a good season also producing new Group III winner Chapel City and Group III placed King of Hastings, while his 28 winners also include another promising two year-old winner Ilovethegame.

Also trained by Greg Eurell and bred by Neville Murdoch, Ilovethegame won on debut at Sandown earlier this month and is entered for Flemington on Saturday.
