South African Group Two Winner for Vancouver

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 27

Coolmore’s Golden Slipper winner Vancouver has sired his first stakes-winner with exciting two year-old colt Mount Pleasant beating another Aussie bred Starspangled banner colt Najem Suhail to win the Group II World Sports Betting SA Nursery Stakes (1160m) at Turffontein in South Africa on Saturday.

The Mike de Kock trained colt was a strong winner on debut at the same track earlier this month and kept his unbeaten record intact with a length victory as favourite.

A $90,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the draft of Two Bays Farm for Form Bloodstock, Mount Pleasant is a half-brother to stakes-placed Quantum Mechanic.

Mount Pleasant as a yearling
Bred by Makybe, Mount Pleasant is the fourth winner from Life in a Metro, a winning three-quarter sister by Fasnet Rock to Group I winners Absolutely and Abbey Marie.

Life in a Metro died this month and her final foals are a yearling colt by Snitzel that was sold at Magic Millions for $170,000 and a weanling colt by Sebring.

Mount Pleasant is the first stakes-winner for Golden Slipper winning sire Vancouver and is his first runner in South Africa.

Vancouver stands at a fee of $30,250 at Coolmore this spring.
