One to Watch – Hawkesbury

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday June 23

Newgate Farm’s Deep Field added another winner to his tally on Tuesday when this talented three year-old filly made a winning debut at Hawkesbury.

Trained by Jason Coyle, Faraway Jewel was sent out favourite for the 1100m maiden having had a good education at the barrier trials and zoomed home along the inside from back in the field to win with authority.

A big s

copey filly, she has been given time to mature and the patience shown by connections looks like it will be rewarded.

Withdrawn by Newgate Farm from Inglis Easter and subsequently leased to a large group of Jason Coyle stable clients, Faraway Jewel is a half-sister to stakes-placed Summer Monsoon and is the third winner from Princess Narine.

Faraway Jewel as a yearling

Bought by Newgate Farm for $600,000 from the Magic Millions Teeley Assets Dispersal in 2014, Princess Narine is a half-sister by Red Ransom (USA) to Group III winner Precious Lorraine (dam of stakes-winner Meuse), stakes-winner Lucky Raquie and stakes-placed Quench the Thirst, dam of stakes-winner Sangria.

This is the Monsoon Wedding branch of the Shantha’s Choice family that has given us champion sire Redoute’s Choice and Group I winners Manhattan Rain, Platinum Scissors and Shoals.

Princess Narine is now owned by Go Bloodstock and  has a weanling filly by Deep Field and is in foal to Rubick.

Deep Field added another winner late in the day with Underwood winning at Rockhampton to give him 78 winners this season as he chases the record 80 winners in a season for a second crop sire held by his father Northern Meteor.

Deep Field stands at a fee of $55,000 this spring.
