One to Watch – Scone

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 22

If you’ve got a filly bred to win an Oaks, sending it to John Sargent is a good idea, which is probably what Sir Owen Glenn was thinking about this filly who made a winning debut at Scone on Monday.

Two year-old Dundeel filly Land Ahoy was a hot favourite in the 1300m maiden and won like the good thing punters believed her to be, bolting away to win by more than three lengths.

Dundeel is the sire of Land Ahoy

Bred and retained to race by sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock, Land Ahoy is the second winner from Aiden Sea (IRE), a half-sister by Danehill Dancer to multiple Group I placed stakes-winner Argentina from a family packed with Black Type performers

Aiden Sea was on-sold at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale last year for $80,000 and is set to go back through the same sale in July as Lot 522 with a positive service to Rubick.

Her weanling colt by Capitalist will also be offered in the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale as Lot 1017, the colt and his mother consigned by Glastonbury Farm.
