Group One Goal for Domesday Mare

The spring carnival is not just all about rising star colt Royal Symphony for Aquis Farm's Domesday.

A stakes-winner at two and Group III winner last season at three, progressive Domesday mare Oregon's Day is headed for even better races this spring after scoring a stylish victory at Caulfield last Saturday.

Oregon's Day won the Group III MVRC Alexandra Stakes earlier this year - Grant CourtneyHaving her second run back from a break after ending her autumn campaign with a brave fifth to Foxplay in the Group I ATC Queen of the Turf Stakes, Oregon's Day surged to the line to score a narrow win over 1400 metres in the open mares event.

Her trainer Mick Price is looking to improve her record with races such as the Group II VRC Let's Elope Stakes on September 16 and Group II MVRC Stocks Stakes on September 29 her likely targets.

All going well the Group I VRC Myer Classic at Flemington on Derby Day looms as the ultimate grand final.

"She might have a Group One mares race in her," Price said.

"I'm not going to go past a mile with her and there will be improvement to come."

Oregon's Dream was retained to race by her breeders, who also raced her dam Oregon Seal, a Group III winner up to 2100 metres.

Retired from stud duties last year, Oregon Seal has produced eight winners from eight foals to race with Oregon's Day her third stakes-winner joining Group II winner Talent Show and stakes-winner Oregon Spirit.

DomesdayOregon's Day has the overall record of three wins and three placings from just 10 starts and has won over $300,000 in prizemoney.

Oregon's Day is one of 16 stakes-winners for Aquis Farm's Domesday, who covered 104 mares last year in his first season in Queensland and stands at a fee of $8,800.

He also sired a smart winner at Doomben on Saturday with five year-old gelding Ingeegoodbe scoring his third successive win at the track.
